The time that is given to us

Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

I like this quote, a lot. It's easy in times of trouble to wish some things had simply never happened. But it's true, it is not for us to decide. Ours is to make the most of what we are given, learn the lessons, and come out stronger. If we choose to do that, in the end everything will all make sense
